Origin of the idea

In 2007 myself & a best friend embarked on an adventure that changed both our lives forever. We walked the Camino de Santiago; an ancient route of Pilgrimage, from London to Santiago de Compostela, NW Spain. It took about 4 months to complete covering a total of over 2,000km.

In short, we walked & talked. A lot.

There was something profound about being in nature while contemplating so many important topics. It was such a luxury to have time to reflect on aspects of ourselves, as well as society at large & of course topics such as philosophy and religions of all hues. Anything that came to mind really. Our set-backs in life, our regrets, our shame, our hopes & aspirations.

It is my hope that you will join me for a few hours or up to half a day & together we will share something inspiring. To experience the powerful phenomena of contemplation with another human being, against the backdrop of mother nature. If it feels right, maybe we can discuss things that ordinarily we might shy away from? The things that worry us, the things that make us feel uncomfortable, issues with addictions both substances & behavioural, what triggers our feelings of shame? But also what makes us laugh, what books and films we love and when do we feel most alive?

But no pressure at all & only what we feel comfortable with. There is no obligation for us to ‘spill our guts’ or be profound, trying to imitate the Socratic Dialogues! Being in the UK if all else fails we can always talk about the weather.

My hope is that it will be therapeutic for us both but not therapy. I have years of experience & training working in the field of wellbeing but I’m not a therapist. But I’m a good listener & I’m rarely lost for words! I’m up for the challenge offered by Walk Talk UK & hope you are too.
