How to get involved & FAQs
-
When will we walk?
We simply need to a find a day for our walk that works for us both. We’ll need a few hours up to half a day to walk & we’ll need to consider travelling times too. I have a lot of flexibility with my diary so I’m sure we can find a suitable day fairly easily.

Where will we walk?
Where would you like to walk? We just need to agree a place to walk that both of us can get to relatively easily. I live in Tunbridge Wells (Kent, UK) but with notice I’m happy to travel to most parts of the UK. A great excuse for me to discover the UK afresh.
-
What do I need to bring for the walk?
Just yourself as you are. Footwear that you think would be suitable for a days walking. Clothes suitable for the likely weather. A packed-lunch & (soft) drinks. An open mind & a sense of adventure.

Anything else I need to do?
Yes!
Within 2 weeks of our adventure it is my hope that we will write each other a letter reflecting on our day together (via email). No more than 2 pages & less if you prefer.
The process of writing these letters will help us both reflect on our journey as well as inspire others to get involved!
The letters we write each other may refer to themes of our conversation but need to focus on our personal thoughts & experiences rather than what the other talked about.
With your permission, I’d hope to publish our letters on this website. Only using your first name or initials and if you prefer you can of course be anonymous.
I’d also like to be able to email our letters out to those that have contacted me with an interest in this project. To help inspire others & to encourage more people to get involved with Walk Talk UK.
Under no circumstances will I use your information for any purposes other than for this project. Your privacy and trust in this project and me is essential for this venture to succeed.
Please do tell your friends & family & anyone that will listen (!) about this project. It would be great to go for a walk with them on another day.
To start with I envisage walking with only 1 person at a time. Maybe in the future we might try group walks, let’s just see how this format works 1st.

How much will this cost me?
Nothing!
No costs involved other than us paying for our own travel costs & bringing our own food and (soft) drinks.
-
What's the catch?
There really isn’t one.
I have a strong sense that this project will be helpful & hopefully inspiring for all those that get involved, including me, even if it does rain on us!
If we both find ourselves walking in embarrassed silence as we stumble along our path, no problem. We can congratulate ourselves for giving the idea a go and taking a risk.
Let’s agree to a commitment that ‘What’s said on the walk, stays on the walk’. I commit to keeping anything you say to me confidential & hope you will do the same for me too. The only exception being if any safeguarding issues arise.
